The cardiopulmonary aid system provides mechanical compression of the chest for patients with cardiac arrest. It is more commonly used in emergency medicine as an alternative to manual CPR because it provides constant compression at constant speeds in difficult transport conditions and reduces the physical strain on the person performing the CPR.
