New pictures: This is what the Apple iPhone 14 Pro should look like without a notch
The new iPhone 14 Pro is still a few months away, but new images are already showing what the upcoming Apple flagship could look like. The focus is on the camera system at the front, which makes the distinctive notch disappear in the new design.
After the disappearance of the home button, Apple will say goodbye to another identifying feature in the fall – the notch. Introduced with the iPhone X in November 2017, the notch has long been considered an eyesore on iOS smartphones, and the company has not only stuck with it to date, but has even carried it over to the MacBook portfolio. With the iPhone 14 Pro, this should be removed in favor of a new punch-hole design, but not disappear from the mobile lineup entirely.

New front camera system only for the Pro models?

Based on recently published CAD renderings, the Dutch website LetsGoDigital commissioned the creation of new 3D images that are intended to realistically represent the iPhone 14 Pro. Interested parties can thus get a first impression of the new top model from Cupertino in advance. Apart from the new TrueDepth camera, which also houses the Face ID facial recognition, the optical innovations seem to be limited. The main focus is therefore on the pill-shaped and circular recesses within the OLED display.

The rumor mill is currently assuming that Apple’s new camera design will be reserved for the Pro models. The cheaper iPhone 14 should therefore continue to rely on a notch. There could also be differences in terms of chip equipment for the first time. The new Apple A16 Bionic processor is said to be planned for the iPhone 14 Pro, while the “normal” iPhones could also use a slightly modified Apple A15 Bionic in the future. There are also six gigabytes of RAM and a new 48-megapixel main camera.

The well-known formats of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches (max) should be retained. However, due to low sales figures, Apple could say goodbye to its mini model in autumn and introduce another iPhone 14 Max smartphone instead.
